That's just super.

According to Reuters, there's this new show to air on the CW:

The project, from "Veronica Mars" executive producer Diane Ruggiero, centers on two very different young women and best friends who unite to fight crime after a mysterious event gives them superpowers they can use only when they are together.

I can only hope that Saul Colt, the creator of Eclipse and Vega, is mulling litigation.

Having some yuks.

YouTube is a wonderful thing, as you well know. Over the last couple weeks, I ran across some really funny clips. As part of my plan to be the Hedra Carlson to Jaime Weinman's Allison Jones, I'm going to embed them.

I had read about this first clip, a deleted scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, at IGN's message board about five years back. To my relief, it was just as funny as I'd hoped:

This second clip is a little welcome note celebrating the site's purchase by Google.

Oh, did I mention that it's delivered by Christopher Walken's mother? Yeah, I probably should've:

Isn't the internet fun?

Hollywood Video?!

So, I'm out and about and I decide to rent some flicks from the aforementioned video store...only they don't really have any more videos; dumped them in a clearance sale. This is just mind-bogglingly stupid. Did it not occur at some point to the head honchos that not every movie ever made is (or can be, in some cases) on DVD?! And I was kind of looking forward to renting Amityville 1992 and The Runestone. (My tastes are very unusual. I won't pretend otherwise for anyone.)

"That man's nuts! Grab 'im!"

I almost never do this, but I've just learned that veteran comedy writer Jerry Belson passed away.

The reason I'm making this post is because of the post title. From the 1978 Burt Reynolds comedy, The End (which Mr. Belson scripted), it is one of the funniest lines I've ever heard in a motion picture. In fact, just about anything Dom DeLuise said in that film was hilarious.

Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Belson. We'll miss you.

"Kill her, mommy!"

Still snowing, apparently.

Anyway, so today's Friday the 13th. One would think that I'd be above devoting a post to the endless series of horror flicks on a day like this. One would, surprisingly, be incorrect.

The series composer, Harry Manfredini, posted a few clips from the films at his website. One of them, the opening of part '3-D', is an odd bird. It's written for what is supposed to be a horror movie...but it sounds like it belongs over a "Scooby-Doo" chase scene, if not the opening of a "Scooby" spinoff.

Maybe I'm hallucinating, or just crazy, but judge for yourself.

"Snow! It's everywhere!"

Well, it's snowing and given the crappy reception (keeping me from the hilarious new episode of "Drawn Together"), it doesn't seem to be letting up.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, given that I live in Buffalo, New York, where our four seasons are Winter, Post Winter, Not Winter and Almost Winter. Still...it's fucking October and people are suffering white-outs. Where's the justice in that?!

A funny thing about salad.

Yesterday, I went out to the music store in Clarence. Afterward, I went to Chili's for lunch. I thought about the Triple Dipper Meal, but I ultimately settled on the Quesadilla Explosion. It happened to be a salad.

Now, there's been a lot in the news recently about how leafy greens contain traces of E.coli. The waitress asked me if the salad was all right. I'm thinking to myself, 'Why wouldn't it be?'. (I'm one of those guys who reads the paper for the comics and the puzzles, only occasionally drifting toward the front page.) Almost a full day later at work, I see the managers loading greens into a cart and it hits me why the waitress asked.

Never mind how they'd have the products necessary for making salads. I'm not sure if it's a time-release problem, but this was a day and a half ago, and I feel fine.

Kind of like what George Carlin said on one of his HBO specials: "Take a f--kin' chance!" If I may amend that a little, it helps if you don't know you're taking a chance.

"More than tickles the funny bone."

I couldn't care less for next summer's Transformers movie. Never got into the cartoon, but it's just as well; the movie's only cursorily based on the series. It's being directed by Michael Bay, in case your mind wasn't completely made up about it.

Even so, there's a contest to write a piece of dialogue to be put in the film, and people are talking about it at Ain't It Cool News. You all know what that means...

You've gotta check this out!

Thank you, Fleemco!

If you understand that reference, then you'll most likely share my enthusiasm at learning that "The Replacements", one of the funniest new shows on right now, has its own blog!
