Well, now that my Avengers: Endgame itch has been scratched (and a lot of scratching can get done in three hours...no, I'm not sure what that means, either), there are other movies this summer to look forward to...and here they are:

10. RocketMan - The look at a flamboyant musical personality whose catchy stage handle, catchier tunes and fluid sexuality help to make him a legend in the music industry. In other works, Bohemian Rhapsody, but done right...I hope. (May 31)

9. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Let's be honest: when Tarantino says 'jump', we say 'how high?'. This peek at late 60s Hollywood (particularly the tragic end of Sharon Tate) looks fantastic, but I truly hope that QT has hired an editor that will push back a little (i.e. no needless three-hour run time). (July 26)

8. Men in Black: International - Simply put, I think that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be good substitutes for Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Even without Rick Baker, I'm sure that the film will be loaded with impressive alien designs. (June 14)

7. Dark Phoenix - The last X-Men movie to be made by the once-still-an-existing-studio 20th Century Fox. Will it be an epic or an epic fail? Either way, I haven't missed an X-Men movie yet. (June 7)

6. 21 Bridges - Two cop killers are on the loose in Manhattan and cop Chadwick Boseman comes up with a solution: close down all the bridges to the city. I don't know, there's just something about a New York City police-based thriller with a number in the title that excites me (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, 16 Blocks). (July 12) Pushed back to September, but I'm still totally seeing it.

5. Ma - Never talk to strangers and certainly never use a stranger's home for partying. I can't wait to see Octavia Spencer cut loose, Annie Wilkes-style. From the director of The Help (!) (May 31)

4. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - It's easy to be concerned about the two and a half hour running time or the fact that there are four writers when the first two movies only needed the one. John Wick caps fools on motorcycles while riding a horse. Your argument is invalid. (May 17)

3. Aladdin - Cards on the table: I was planning on avoiding this until I saw the trailer. Knocked me on my ass, it did. I have a better feeling about this than about Disney's three (!) other live-action-from-animation efforts this year. (May 24)

2. Booksmart - While it would be a little obvious (and reductive) to call this 'female Superbad' (even with Jonah Hill's sister as one of the leads), the film does look to be cut from the same comic cloth and I am here for that. (May 24)

1. Hobbs and Shaw - While I was lukewarm on The Fate of the Furious, the scenes with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham were damn delightful. And that trailer, promising a jacked-up variation on Tango and Cash...just hook it to my veins! (August 2)

Other films I'm looking forward to seeing in various respects: Brightburn, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Good Boys, The Kitchen, My Spy, Stuber, Where'd You Go, Bernadette? and Toy Story 4 (seriously, if that terrible early teaser is an actual scene from the film, that would be a perfect time for a bathroom break).
