James Horner (1953-2015)

I know I said no more obituary posts, but as a film music lover, I hope I can be allowed this exception.

No matter what one could say about him (his appropriation of the work of other composers, his whole cloth recycling of his melodies, the danger motif), one cannot deny that James Horner was an incredibly skilled composer and craftsman whose work could excite you, bring you joy or move you to tears.

Of course, he will be missed.
